Overview
District 07 is one of Singapore’s important heritage districts. Comprising of the Bugis and Beach Road areas, a good portion of its architecture is conserved because of its significant and distinct representation of Singapore’s history.
Before its current transformation, Bugis was already a tourist hotspot during the 1950s to 1980s when it was a rendezvous point for those with creative and urban counter-culture leanings.
Fast forward to today, Bugis is now redeveloped into a modern arts, cultural and shopping destination with vibrant malls such as Bugis Junction and Bugis Plus. Some semblance of its pasar malam past is also retained by the existence of the largest street market in Singapore at Bugis Street Market.
